Year Visited: 2005 – October
While flying back from a business trip to Norway during October 2005, I made an overnight stop in Helsinki, before flying to Dallas. Back in those days, I was really counting stamps on my passport.
Finland (Finnish: Suomi) is a Nordic country located in Northern Europe. From the late 13th century, Finland gradually became an integral part of Sweden as a consequence of the Northern Crusades. In 1809, as a result of the Finnish War, Finland was annexed by the Russian Empire as the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland. In 1906, Finland became the first European state to grant all adult citizens the right to vote, and the first in the world to give all adult citizens the right to run for public office. Finland ranked first on the World Happiness Report report for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
I had only one night in Helsinki, the capital and most populous city of Finland. I didn’t have much time to explore country or the city. Just few clicks and took a flight back home to Dallas. I will definitely go back and explore the Nordic countries for couple of months by land/sea.
Pictures below are taken using a basic Disposable film Camera. The pictures are of really bad quality but I want to be honest to myself and use those picture. After one night in Finland and one more stamp in my Passport, it was time to go back home in Dallas.
