I love Italy and have visited this beautiful country multiple times.
The first time I visited Italy during September 1998, as a weekend road trip to Venice from Heidelberg, Germany, where I was staying for eight week long business trip.
The second time I visited Italy during Chinese National Day Holidays of 2016, I took some additional days off and caught a flight to Rome for two weeks long road trip across Italy, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City. This was a comfort trip, driving in a luxury car, staying at upscale AirBnBs and five-star hotels; a little different than my recent travel style of Backpacking, traveling by public transformation and staying at hostels.
The third time was in October 2018, after our Backpacking journey through Balkans, just spent two days in Milan before we took a flight to Malta.
Slovenia was the last country in our Balkans Journey, but our Backpacking journey was still not over yet. Slovenia was my 98th country, so Raul and I decided to complete 100 unique countries during that trip. We made a plan to come to Milan by bus from Ljubljana and take a flight to Malta, and after spending few days in Malta, fly to Tunisia, my 100th country and Raul’s first country in Africa. Both Raul and I had been to Italy before, but flight to Malta was less expensive from Milan than from Ljubljana.
Italy (Italian: Italia) is a country in Southern Europe, with a long Mediterranean coastline, has left a powerful mark on Western culture and cuisine. Together with Greece, it is acknowledged as the birthplace of Western culture. It is also famous worldwide for its delicious cuisine, its trendy fashion industry, luxury sports cars and motorcycles, diverse regional cultures and dialects, as well as for its beautiful coast, alpine lakes and mountain ranges.
Italy is home to many of the world’s largest, oldest and opulent churches and monuments. Not surprisingly, it is also home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world. High art and monuments are to be found everywhere around the country.
