While staying in Kotor, Montenegro, during our backpacking through the Balkans journey, we took a bus to Budva, a town on the Adriatic Sea. Part of the Budva Riviera, the ancient town is known for sandy beaches and nightlife. Founded in 500 BC, Budva is 2,500+ years old, which makes it one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast.

Stone walls built by the Venetians surround the narrow streets of the medieval old town (Stari Grad) of Budva.

The Old Town consists of narrow streets and alleys and small squares with precious monuments of different Mediterranean cultures that have marked the development of this town.

Sveti Stefan, a fortified village, dating back to the 15th century, on a small islet of the Adriatic coast, now a 5-star hotel resort. One of the most picturesque location.

As this was a day trip, we arrived back in the Ancient fortified town of Kotor, to visit North Montenegro, a day-tour organized by our hostel.
