Year Visited: 2018 – September

I visited Paros with my younger Son during our backpacking journey through the Balkans. After couple of days in a very beautiful but very crowded Santorini, we took a ferry from Santorini to Paros.

Paros, the second largest island of the Cyclades island group, is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea best known for its traditional Cycladic architecture, magical beaches with crystal clear water, enchanting rural villages, unrivaled Byzantine footpaths connecting traditional neighborhoods and historical monuments. The island is very peaceful and not as crowded as Santorini.

We arrived in Parikia, the bay-side capital of Paros, a beautiful Cycladic village with whitewashed cubic houses and impressive neoclassical mansions.

A Remote Light House on the island.
A beautiful Orthodox Greek Chapel in Parikia, the island’s port town and capital.
Panagia Ekatontapiliani (literally the church with 100 doors), a historic Byzantine church complex in Parikia town. The church dates to 326. Its oldest features likely predate the adoption of Christianity as the state religion of the Roman Empire in 391.
