.
I visited Romania during my five plus months backpacking journey across Central and Eastern Europe. After few days in Moldova, I took a marshrutka to Iași, the second largest city in Romania. This was my second visit to this beautiful country, my first visit to Romania was in Dec, 2015. It was a very short, only five days long visit, as I was working full-time. Certainly, that was not enough time, so decided to spend more time and visit more places in this beautiful country during my backpacking journey through the Central and Eastern European countries.
Romania. a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. The country is full of historic cities with their cobblestone streets and their medieval architecture, the friendly people, and the beautiful, picturesque countryside.
Romanians trace their ancestry back to the Romans, and have a noticeable Latin character. In Transylvania, in addition to ethnic Romanians, one and a half million Magyars (Hungarians) and around the same number of Romani (Gypsies) follow their own path, while diminishing numbers of Transylvanian Germans (Saxons) reside around the fortified towns and churches built by their ancestors.
Below are some places I explored during my two plus weeks travel around Romania. Click on any City to view my travel photos and stories.
After few weeks in Romania I took an overnight train to Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria.
