In September 1998, after joining SAP, my new employer, I went to Heidelberg, Germany for 7 weeks of workshops and training. As this was my first visit to Europe, I made the best use of all weekends and drove to many countries including Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. I visited Luxembourg as a day trip while returning back from a weekend trip to Paris, France.
Luxembourg is a small landlocked country in Western Europe, surrounded by Belgium, France and Germany. As one of the world’s smallest countries, Luxembourg has come under the control of many states and ruling houses in its long history.
Luxembourg is mostly rural, with dense forest and nature parks. Luxembourg City, the capital, famed for its fortified medieval old town perched on sheer cliffs. The city of Luxembourg was founded in 963, at the crossroads of Western Europe and it became heavily fortified, you can still see the extensive city walls and towers which are the most distinctive aspect of the cityscape.
The fortress and the Old City of Luxembourg are listed as World Heritage by UNESCO since 1994.
My visit was in 1998, no Digital Camera at that time, only Film Camera, so I don’t have many pictures to show here. Also, these pictures are not of good quality but I still wanted to post here as my memories.
Pictures below are from my day trip to Luxembourg.
