Destination 》 North America 》 Central America 》 Honduras
Year Visited: 2007 – Jun
Honduras, set between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and bordered by Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, is the second biggest and second most populous country in Central America. Settled as a colony of Spain in the early 16th century, Honduras gained its independence in 1821.
We visited only Rotan Island of Honduras as a Port of Call during our seven days Caribbean cruise. We spent less than 8 hours at one of the beach on the island. So yes, I visited Honduras, but I haven’t seen any thing or haven’t experience local culture. Honduras has colonial villages (Gracias, Comayagua), ancient Maya ruins (Copan), natural parks (Moskitia), and a Pacific and Caribbean coastline. I would definitely like to go back and explore Honduras in the future.

After less than 8 hours on the island, we went back to our cruise ship. Honduras has lot to offer than just one Island, though because of limited time, I couldn’t explore more. I would definitely like to come back and explore more.
