Day 1 on the Pamir Highway: From Osh to Sari-Tash
After waiting for three days in Osh, looking for few more travelers for sharing 4×4 rental expenses, I met a German couple. We rented a 4×4, loaded it with food, few melons, breads, a fine Kyrgyz Vodka and started our epic journey on the Pamir Highway

Sary-Tash is a small village in Kyrgyzstan and a major crossroads connecting to Osh (Kyrgyzstan), Murghab (Tajikistan) through The Pamir Highway and Kashgar (China) via the Irkeshtam pass. The town has minimal facilities; two small shops, a gas station, and few home-stays. The town makes a great base to start exploring the beautiful Alay Valley or the mountains en route to Murghab.
This was our first stop on the Pamir Highway, we arrived to our home-stay in late afternoon, I walked around the town and admired breathtaking view of surrounding mountains. You can get a spectacular view of Peak Lenin (7,134 m) from Sari-Tash.

Next day we started early in the morning and cross the border before lunch. We reached Murghab, Tajikistan in late afternoon.
