Destination 》Asia 》East Asia
East Asia, also sometimes known as the Far East or the Orient, is the eastern sub-region of Asia, encompasses countries of North East Asia. China, Japan, and Korea represent the three core civilizations of traditional East Asia, as they once shared a common written language, and culture. While Mongolia has completely different language and culture, it is part of the East Asia because of its geographical location. Click on any country to view my travel photos and stories.

China – Coming Last
China is my favorite country, my second home for five years. I would like to share thousands of travel stories and photos, unfortunately because of amount of work it requires, I will create posts as time permits.

Hong Kong is more than a harbor city with skyscrapers and crowded streets. From boat-buzzed waterfronts to its packed dim-sum restaurants, its incense-smoked temples to its chattering tea-houses, its street markets to its old-world hotels, Hong Kong is teeming with energy.

Japan, the “Land of the Rising Sun”, known as Nihon or Nippon in Japanese, is an island nation comprised of four main islands and several thousands of smaller islands. Japan, with its 6,852 islands, is the largest island country in East Asia.

Before the transfer of sovereignty to China in 1999, Macau was an overseas territory of Portugal. Macau was one of the earliest European colonies in Asia and the last to be relinquished. The Historic Center of Macau is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Macau is the gambling capital of the Asia. It generates more revenue from gambling than anywhere else on the planet, including “The Strip” in Las Vegas.

Mongolia, known as the “land of the blue sky”, is a country in the East Asia, with gorgeous natural beauty and home to an incredible nomadic culture, one of the last few places on the planet where nomadic life is still a living tradition.

South Korea, the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, shares one of the world’s most heavily militarized borders with North Korea. It’s equally known for its green, hilly countryside dotted with cherry trees and centuries-old Buddhist temples, its coastal fishing villages, sub-tropical islands and high-tech cities.

Taiwan, historically known as Formosa, is an island nation governed by the Republic of China (ROC) since 1945. Taiwan is the most populous nation and largest economy that is not a member of the United Nations (UN).
